Shabbat – 7 Nissan 5768 – Saturday – my computer continues to keep me busy

I am back from the synagogue. Before going to bed, I turn on the computer to check for email messages. New situation. The connection to the wireless network cannot be established although it is present. The computer’s Connectivity Doctor indicates a problem with the computer. I briefly test the suggested solutions; without success.

My computer seems to be a bit like the talking donkey the biblical Balaam. The situation brings me to my knees. I can only imagine the connection with what I have experienced before. The son of the previously mentioned Swiss in the house, who was visiting on Schabat the father who suspected a missionary behind me, had sat next to me before the Maariw (evening prayer) and said that he was very interested in my story. He heard that I worked in the Bethanienheim. I reply to him that my story cannot be told in two minutes. Don’t worry, he says, he would be back in the house and I could go on.

So I start and can narrate to the point where I was mature for the clinic because of a lack of sleep. The son’s interest is a little scary to me, since his appearance is like that of the biblical Nathanael: a Jew without fault and blame! He gets up from his seat he who is probably about 60, when his father takes a seat next to him. I notice that I am very dependent on God’s help in telling my résumé.

I only wrote the above diary note after I had already slept 1½ hours. This is followed by a restless night with many awake times and towards the morning with many dreams. I think about what I want to tell from my CV and then come to the conclusion that I should tell in detail. I will also tell him about the following experience that is not on my written resume

About a year ago I had the impression that I should once again take part in the general meeting / annual meeting of Operation Exodus. Operation Exodus is a global Christian organization that aims at help return Jews to Israel. I am the auditor of the Swiss branch, which is mainly involved in fundraising.

Roger Wolcott, an American, made a speech at the annual meeting before the actual agenda items. He spoke emphatically and said that a Swiss citizen has a calling for Israel. He should be attentively to follow the call. The situation is comparable to that of Queen Esther in the Bible. As is well known, the latter had the task of going to the king and asking for the Jews. However, going to the king without a summons was perilous, so the queen had to make a decision. After finding a yes, she said laconically: „caascher awad’ti awad’ti“: „if I died, I died!“.

Roger Wolcott’s speech had affected me greatly. It was an important building block in my decision to emigrate to Israel last year.

Well, I have now realized that it is not without problems for me to want to make decisions in advance about what I want to say.

In any case, I will be guided by the spirit of God.
