Tuesday – shock and comfort

After I received the green light from the Ministry of the Interior in Israel yesterday for a two-month stay, starting before Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles), I immediately tried to get a room at Beit Tovei Ha’Ir in Jerusalem, where I have been staying since 2007. I open the mail today expectantly. A little shock! “No place in the hostel!” That God is good for surprises is not new to me.       The consolation is already there, in the form of Isaiah 42, verses 1-9.
