yom revii – 2nd Siwan 5776 – JAHWEH opens, raises, loves

“The Lord opens the eyes of the blind;
The Lord raises up those who are bowed down;
The Lord loves the righteous; ”
(Psalm 146.8, (NASB) daily motto (lot) Herrnhut Brothers

יהוה פקח עורים יהוה זקף כפופים יהוה אהב צדיקים

YAHWEH pokeach ivrim YAHWEH sokef cfufim YAHWEH ohev tzadikim

Basically, the daily motto (lot) only consists of the middle sentence. The first promise was for the last time on June 30, 2008, and the third phrase has never made it to be a daily motto (lot) since 1999.

So let’s begin with the actual daily motto. Those who are bowed down can be people suffering from depression, since there are many of them in our time. Depending on the severity of the illness, a stay in a psychiatric clinic may be necessary. I found the following in Wikipedia: According to the ICD-10 diagnosis formula, chronic depression is classified by severity and duration into dysthymia and recurrent (repeated) depression. The DSM-IV is more accurate since existing chronic depressive disorders may be accompanied at times by additional depressions. Within the DSM-IV, this is then called “double depression.”

In Biblical times, things were simpler. There was just GOD Who could help without further ado.

From the Gospels, we know that YAHWEH can open the eyes of the blind. Jesus of Nazareth who lived in total dependence on his Father in Heaven was given orders to do so.

The last sentence is especially close to me because I’m one of the righteous. It became clear to me after my last stay in the psychiatric clinic. At the end of my 10-year midlife crisis, in 1990, I picked up the following phrase that left a deep impression on me: All turns out well for the righteous.

And I won’t forget that my baptismal quote in 2005 also refers to me as one of the righteous:

Psalm 92:
13 Planted in the house of the Lord,
They will flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They will still [a]yield fruit in old age;
They shall be [b]full of sap and very green,
15 To [c]declare that the Lord is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
(NASB)

Footnotes:
Psalm 92:14 Or thrive in
Psalm 92:14 Lit fat and
Psalm 92:15 Or show forth

The greatest thing for me now is that I am expressly loved by JAHWEH!
