Tuesday – Promise – Questions and Answers

Today it is exactly 28 years to the day that I took a promise for myself in a charismatic service:

“If you entrust yourself to Me and put your hand in My hand and let Me guide you, you should cross the border with Me into a new country, which you did not know and whose miracles are so great that the most beautiful thing is you can only imagine a shadow against it. But be careful that you don’t stop when I want to go on with you! “

I look back gratefully on these 28 years. How much guidance and keeping of God was involved in that time! 14 years ago, (halfway), I realized that the promised land is Israel. I was going through puberty, so to speak. Today not so much is missing to adulthood. Life is exciting, as the following email exchange (questions / answers) makes clear:

  1. Do you believe that it can be in the spirit of God that you cause suffering to your loved ones?
    Answer:
From my point of view, two aspects are in the foreground:
    a) The Kingdom of God
Jesus Christ says in Luke 18.29 + 30:
“29 But he said to them, Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God.
30 who will not receive much in this time and in the coming age eternal life. ”(Revised Elberfeld Bible)
In the kingdom of God other standards apply than purely humanistic.
    b) Two sides.
In a conflict there are at least two sides to consider. (I’ll leave the children aside for once, because they have long since fledged and flown out.) You only look at my wife’s side. I point out that for my part I suffer too. I am not here in Israel to “chat”, but because I have recognized it as God’s commission. I live in a pretty Spartan way here: – sparse human contacts, – limited activities, – since recently completely alcohol-free. Life in Switzerland would be a lot more pleasant.
My heartfelt wish would be that my wife would follow me to Israel. We would have a good living situation here in the retirement home. Unfortunately, my wife is currently not even ready to test this variant before God.

  1. How do you get the certainty that God gives you assignments in dreams?
    Answer:
It is a question of faith that has been confirmed by experience. Years ago, my pastor at the time asked me about my dreams and gave me instructions on how to interpret them. In the whole Bible (Old and New Testament) dreams play an important role again and again.

  1. Why should he give you orders?
    Counter question:
Why not? What solid reasons speak against it?

  1. What makes you different from millions of other people?
    Answer:
I consider myself an ordinary person. I am a sinful person like you and billions of other people too. Many people are called to the kingdom of God. Please read Jesus’ parable of the sower. (Matthew 13: 1-23)

  1. What were the outstanding deeds in your life that entitle you to such privileges?
    Counter question:
Who says that it takes outstanding work to enter the kingdom of God?
Take the biblical prophet Jonah. The word of God came to him. There is nothing in the Bible about any outstanding deeds. I myself was identified as a fleeing Jonah in the self-awareness seminar. I tried to escape God’s mission. He had caught up with me. Graciously, like the biblical Jonah, I received a second commission. I want to be careful not to sulk if God expects me to do something that is not my will.

  1. What kind of job are you supposed to fulfill in Israel that you couldn’t exactly fulfill in Switzerland?
    Answer:
The mission is not yet clear. According to my dream of April 12, 2004, I am in a practical teaching in Jerusalem. After successfully completing the apprenticeship, things should become clearer.

  1. Serving God means serving your fellow human beings and first and foremost your loved ones.
    Answer:
That is purely humanistic. I agree with you that serving others is crucial. According to my faith, however, the authority of God is required if our service is to endure.

  1. Don’t you always have your well-being, your spiritual well-being in mind?
    Answer:
It is true. My mental well-being is important to me. I think that is not wrong. For years I was mentally out of balance. I even needed psychiatric help. If I am not in balance myself, I cannot help anyone else. My well-being is a good prerequisite for others too.

  1. Aren’t you gazing exclusively at yourself?
    Answer:
No. I am primarily open to God. From God I expect orders from my fellow human beings.

  1. And have you not become completely insensitive to the suffering you inflict on your loved ones?
    Answer:
    See answer to question 1.

Wouldn’t it be in God’s favor if you answered this question honestly in front of yourself?

Answer:

It is a principle of my life to be as honest as possible towards myself and my fellow human beings.
